Welcome Cougars and Visitors!

We have 20,000+ items available for use by students & staff. Students may come to the Media Center with their  class or on individual passes to check out books and work on research activities, lessons, and computer projects.  There are many wonderful fiction and non-fiction titles available for check-out, and we encourage everyone to read for pleasure and information.  Students can  participate in our district’s Red Dirt Young Adult Intermediate Book Award program for grades 6-8 by voting for their favorite masterlist book in April.

Sequoyah Library Motto: READ LIKE A CHAMPION!

Research shows that students who read well also do well in school.  If students have access to a well-stocked school library media center and a full-time school librarian, they will read more.  More reading =higher academic achievement. *Keith Curry Lance studies

We have a wide range of books, cool magazines, and digital playaways available for students and faculty. Use the search stations to locate books by using our Destiny system, or pick one from the many fiction and non-fiction displays Mrs. Adler has around the Media Center.  Even better, ask Mrs. Adler  for a book recommendation!  See the “Good Books” page for more information.

MISSION STATEMENT:

Our mission is to assist students and staff through collaborative and interdisciplinary projects, activities, and lessons that include the 21st century learning skills, to become enthusiastic & self-directed learners of  information and technology. Our goal is to empower and encourage lifelong learners and readers.

 CIRCULATION POLICIES

Students can check out 2 items at a time for 3 weeks.  Items can be rechecked as needed unless they are on hold for someone else. Students with overdue materials  will not be able to check out any more items until they are returned. We do not charge fines for late items. Overdue notices are sent to students and parents via email, so please recheck or return your books before they are due. If you have questions about overdue items, please contact Mrs. Adler or Mrs. Andrus.

LOST/DAMAGED MATERIALS: :If a student loses or damages an item beyond repair, he/she will need to pay for the replacement cost of that item.  We usually ask you to wait a month before paying (just in case you find it).
