Sequoyah Library Summer Reading Program 20021
6th grade annual Book Tasting Event!
Yoga in the library every Friday during Cougar Time with Mrs. Barnett and Mrs. Adler.
When Mrs. Adler became a Librarian, she read an article from the School Library Journal about having Yoga in the library. Mrs. Adler loved the idea, and is so excited that in the 2017-2018 school year, the library officially began and is still having Yoga in the library. Thank you to all our Sequoyah girls that participate weekly.
Our annual Media Center’s October Book Character Pumpkin Contest!
FACS, Leadership, Drama, Choir, GATE, and Media Center Victorian Tea Party!
For the past 3 years, Leadership researched Queen Victoria and Christmas traditions, and FACS researched the Christmas foods during Queen Victoria’s reign, while Drama performed a Reader’s theater of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol. Both classes presented their research in the Media Center. Mrs. Adler conducted mini lessons over Charles Dickens and The Christmas Carol, and on table etiquette. The Media Center set-up and hosted the tea party while FACS made trifles, scones, jam, and cider from scratch for all of the classes to enjoy. We are so thankful for all the parents who donated scones, cookies, and other items for our celebration. Mr. Inga, Mrs. Steele, and Dr. Harsha were crowned King and Queen, and Princess for the tea party.
Every year we celebrate February with Blind Dates with a Book! Happy Valentine’s Day!
We are expanding and adding yearly to our Makerspace area in the Media Center for students to create, tinker, and learn. On February 20- Teacher Professional Day – Teachers play with our new MakerSpace items in the library! Students don’t forget to come check-out our new MakerSpace area!
